Route:
Saturday: Seewiesen (968m) – Voistalerhütte (1654m) – Schiestlhaus (2153m).
Schiestlhaus - Hochschwab (the summit, 2277m) - Schiestlhaus according to weather, our shape etc. on Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning.
Sunday: (Schiestlhaus – Hochschwab – Schiestlhaus).
Schiestlhaus - Aflenzer Staritzen (a long mountain ridge) – Seewiesen.

of difficulty:
High alpine tour (H), but no glacier, no climbing.
Saturday:
Seewiesen -Voistalerhütte: 700m up, 7 km, 2 ½ hrs,
Voistalerhütte - Schiestlhaus: 500m up, 5 km, 2 ½ hrs,
Schiestlhaus - Hochschwab - Schiestlhaus: 124 m up/down, ½ and ¼ hrs.
Sunday:
(Schiestlhaus – Hochschwab - Schiestlhaus)
Schiestlhaus - Aflenzer Staritzen (a long ridge with some ups and downs) – Seewiesen: 4 hrs
Meeting point and ending point: Seeberghof (Seewiesen Nr. 45, phone: 03863 8115-0):
In the village Seewiesen, beside the Post Office. Coming from Aflenz, before the street is getting steep, on the right hand side.
Meeting time: Sat July 21st , 12.00 a.m., then having lunch together.
Starting Time: 1.00 p.m.
Car Connections:
Wien – Semmering – Kapfenberg – Aflenz – Seewiesen (A2 – S6 – B20)

Equipment needed: Usual equipment for hiking at alpine regions with stay overnight at a hut. E.g.: Solid hiking boots (withstanding some moisture, sturdy sole with profile), raincoat, pullover, drinking bottle, some snacks, suncream, sun glasses, cap or hat, perhaps light gloves, clothes for changing, slippers, inner sleeping bag (two linens or special makes), toilet bag, flashlight.Temperature at the summit can be nice or very chilly.

Additional Remarks
360° panoramic view from Hochschwab to Niedere Tauern, Gesäuse etc. Schiestlhaus is located nearby, so it offers a “leisurely walk” to the summit in the evening or morning without big backpack.
Variations of the route:
Saturday: Voistalerhütte – Ghackte (partly “Klettersteig”) – Hochschwab – Schiestlhaus.
1 ½ hrs more hiking, some climbing at Klettersteig.
If all participants are willing and able we can decide at Saturday noon at lunch.
