A great classic. Crossing Preiner Wand's solid rock provides a great high mountain experience while the overall difficulty of the trail is moderate (you can see the photos here and here).
The ferrata is rated C/D with the most of bottom parts not exceeding C and the top 1/3 rated at B (see the topo). While some ferrata experience is needed no extraordinary abilities are required. If you felt comfortable on a C-rated route and you are fit enough to spend 2.5h on a ferrata, you shouldn't have problems with the Heid Steig.
We will start at the Griesleiten Jagerhaus, approach the ferrata (~1.5h), climb it (~2.5h) and take a yellow-marked route down (~1.5h). Taking into account some rest and preparation for the ferrata it gives us ~6.5h. It can take us longer if the ferrata'll be crowded.
Maximum number of participants is 5 excluding me (but it might be adjusted a little depending on participants level).
By car. I can take up to 4 people with me.
If someone is a big fun of public transport, it's also possible to reach Reichenau an der Rax by train and the switch into the bus going on Prainer Gscheid.
