This cycle route follows the Kamp River on its journey through the Waldviertel region. As the route is quite long, we will do it in 2 days (Sat 9.5 - Sun 10.5), with one overnight stay in the region. The landscape is incomparably charming, and the area also has much to offer in terms of cultural history. The route runs entirely on well-signposted cycle paths and farm tracks or quiet side roads, with the dark, winding Kamp River almost constantly in view, making the ride extremely impressive. By the lakes the scenery reminds on Scandinavian fjords.. We will depart on Saturday from Vienna and take train transport to Horn or Rosenburg am Kamp. From there we will go in direction to Ottensteiner Stausee.
Then we return back somewhere near the starting point and we will have one overnight stay. The second day we go in direction Gars am Kamp and we will finish most likey at Langenlois. Numerous castles, churches, ruines and charming small towns are on the way to be visited, and we will also make some breaks for food, drinks (cafee, wine etc)
The exact program and route will be communicated to the participants.
The first day the route will be some 65 km with moderate difficulty, and the second day shorter. In order to participate you should have fully functioning bike (trekking or mountain bike is more suitable, but it is also possible to do the route with road bike).
