Circular hike, starting and ending at Mixnitz Bärenschützklamm train station.
Route leads through beautiful Bärenschutzklamm , over numerous bridges and ladders, and further on to the Hochlantsch peak (1720m), highest peak of Grazer Bergland (regular trail, not via ferrata). For safety reasons, gorge can only be traversed in one direction, so way down is on the alternative hiking trail.
Hike is some 18,5 km, 1.270m up & down.
Gorge opens on May 1st, so hopefully we´ll manage to beat the summer crowds.
Entrance ticket to the gorge = 8€ for ÖAV members (current price).
High level of sure-footedness, a head for heights, good physical condition and sturdy shoes are a must.
In case of bad weather, hike can be postponed or canceled.
