Description :

Spring in the Wachau: let’s hike towards Jauerling hill (960m) above the historical town of Spitz.

We will take the train from Vienna to Melk and continue by bus, with a total travel time of around 2 hours.

The hike leads steadily uphill at first and then downhill on the way back. At the top, there is a lookout tower and a restaurant, but please make sure to bring enough of your own food and water. Most of the route follows natural forest paths, with a few sections on small asphalt roads during the descent.

At the end, there should be time to enjoy a glass of wine in a local tavern. :-)

Buses for the return journey run at least once an hour, with expected arrival back in Vienna earliest at 19:30.

T1, I can move myself surefootedly on trails and narrow foot-paths

Transport Details :

Train and bus. Everybody needs to arrange their own ticket. The train can be purchases via OEBB app, on the bus we will pay ot the driver.
