Spring hike in the Wachau - Buschandlwand on 15 March 2026

A pleasant, easy spring hike to the Buschandlwand, a small peak in the Wachau with a nice view over the Danube. We will probably start either in Weißenkirchen or Wösendorf and finish in either Spitz or back in a circular route to the starting point. The route will depend a little on how we organise the transport (see below).

Note there will be no huts along the way, so bring some lunch. Maybe we will find a heuriger or a cafe at or near the end of the hike for some food and drinks.

The hike will only take place in good weather conditions (it may be moved to the Saturday or another weekend if the weather forecast is bad)

The train and bus journey into the Wachau is rather slow, so it would be preferable to travel by car, if there are enough participants who can offer transport. In case car transport is not possible for the whole group, we will travel by train and bus - in this case we may start and finish the hike in different locations.
