This is a 3.5-4.5 day-long hike which would require 2 to 3 days off from work (Friday, 15th Aug, is a public holiday in Austria). It is offered in two versions, with and without day 0.
The longer version is led by Emile Schenk and starts on Wed, 13th Aug (day 0) with taking the morning train (and then bus) from Vienna to Stroeden (Hinterbichl) and reaching the Essener Rostocker Hütte that same day. Next day you go down to Clarahuette and continue with the rest of the group.
The shorter version: starts on Thu, 14th Aug (day 1) with taking morning train (and then bus) from Vienna to Stroeden (Hinterbichl) and reaching the first hut (Clarahuette) that same day.
Finish: Mon, 18th Aug (to avoid all the crowds travelling on Sunday)
The basic route would look like this: https://de.mapy.cz/s/nodadahocu
Day-by-day routes:
Wed 13, day 0: https://mapy.com/s/mulesepusa train ride and hike up to Essener Rostocker hut
Thu 14, day 1: train ride and hike up to Clara hut; for the longer version: going up and down from the Essener Rostocker hut to the Clara hut
https://mapy.com/s/gedasebeja from Essener Rostocker hut
Fri 15, day 2: https://de.mapy.cz/s/jorukosoda (I don't think it will take us over 9 hours, there must be sth wrong with the mapy.cz time estimation. And it is not necessary to do the peak) Neue Reichenberger Hütte
Sat 16, day 3: https://de.mapy.cz/s/cetekepedo (resting day, one can do a peak which is directly at the Lassn. hut) I would not call 3 hrs of hiking a resting day. Lasnitzenhütte
Sun 17, day 4: https://de.mapy.cz/s/putavehuza Zupalseehütte
Mon 18, day 5: https://mapy.com/s/cajupomecev down to Virgen, either by taxi from Wetterkreuzhuette or on foot
or hiking to Matrei https://mapy.com/s/goketejata

Accommodation and costs: In at least two huts we should get shared rooms, in at least one there will be a Lager. For accommodation and food (usually half-board) you should be prepare to pay about 280-300 EUR for the shorter version plus around 70-80 if you choose the longer version of the hike. Drinks (and showers) are not included.
At the huts, there is a fee for last-minute cancellations and no-show. Therefore we request a deposit of 90 EUR to be paid before the 31st May 2024.
