July Meeting: Picnic at the New Danube on 07 July 2025

Starting time: from 17.00 (coming later is no problem!)

Bring: a blanket or chair, drinks & eats, swimming costume + towel!

Enjoy an evening out with “that English speaking bunch” from Alpenverein Austria.

Plus: Early evening views of the Leopoldsberg across the Danube, maybe a swim, and lots of fun.

Location: Grillplatz Nr.13 –Überfuhrstraße, east side of Neue Donau, 50 m. downstream of Jedlerseerbrucke.see map 

What to bring:
Drinks — Picnic – Salads – Snacks — Maybe something to share.  Please also bring any cutlery, crockery (or paper plates) etc that you may need.

Suncream, sunglasses, sunhat etc (depending on weather)

Comments:
Whatever you need for a swim. Mosquito repellent might be useful and rain gear (depending on weather forecast) just in case! ???
Doubtful weather??? If the weather is bad, the event will be cancelled. This will be announced on this page, and registered participants will be informed by mail.

In case of cancellation, there will NOT be an alternate date. Our reservation valid on this date only.

Membership in Alpenverein is NOT required: Bring your friends, kids, grandpa & grandma, aunts & uncles, cousins and anybody else interested in speaking English, having fun, eating and drinking, swimming, and much conversation.

There is NO  regular monthly meeting in the Rotenturmstrasse in July.

Please register for this event, to ensure we don't exceed the maximum number of people allowed at the Grillplatz by the City of Vienna (40).

Take the bus 34A from Floridsdorf to Jedlesee, Überfuhrstraße. From there it is about a 5 minute walk (see link to map above).  Alternatively by bike from the city along the northern bank of the Danube, or via the Danube Island.

Please bear in mind the closure of the S-Bahn railway line between Praterstern and Floridsdorf. Getting there this year might be a bit more difficult than in previous years.
