Description :

A relatively easy winter hike from Breitenstein station to Gloggnitz via the Speckbacher Hütte where we can have a short late morning stop. At the castle in Gloggnitz we will visit the Adventmarkt.

Should the weather not be ideal there is a shorter alternative from Breitenstein to Reichenau, where there is also an advent market. If the weather is very bad, the event may be cancelled.

Technical requirements :

T1, I can move myself surefootedly on trails and narrow foot-paths

Physical requirements :

K2, 4-7 hours / day; up and down

13km, 300m ascent, 600m descent ~4hrs to Advent Market (+1-2 km to station)

Equipment :

Usual equipment for a winter hike - lugged sole hiking boots, warm clothes, according to weather, warm drinks, snacks. Possibly spikes (Grödel) or poles if icy.

Transport Details :

Travel by train to Breitenstein, return from Gloggnitz. Possible to travel using Einfach Raus ticket, which will be bought by the organiser (costs shared) for those who don't have a Klimaticket. If you don't want to be included in the Einfach Raus, please inform the organiser during registration. Details of meeting point/time will be sent to registered participants the day before the event.
