Description :

This hike is for participants of the 25 year anniversary weekend, and will start from the Hubertushaus after a leisurely breakfast there. We will be traversing the length of the Hohe Wand, passing the skywalk, descending the north east end via the "unicorn cave" and the Starhemberg ruin into the Piestingtal.

I will organise a stop for lunch, either in a hut on the Hohe Wand or in a guesthouse on the way down to the valley.

The hike will be technically fairly easy, and medium long duration (5-6 hrs, 15-20km), with not too much ascent (more descent though).

Technical requirements :

T1, I can move myself surefootedly on trails and narrow foot-paths

Physical requirements :

K2, 4-7 hours / day; up and down

Equipment :

Usual equipment for low alpine hiking. Small drinks and snacks. Clothing according to weather forecast

Transport Details :

We will have reached the hut the previous day - see other offers for activities this weekend or hiking up independently, or other suggestions will be given to those registered for the weekend.

Returning by train from the Piesting Valley to Vienna via Wiener Neustadt.
