Description :

Update 12.7: Due to weather forecast, hike moved to Sunday. Registration possible today.

Schneeberg traverse from Hinternasswald to Neuberg an der Mürz.

We will take the train/bus from Vienna to Hinternasswald, from where we will hike up to the Schneealpe plateau via the Karlalm and the Lurgbauer Hütte. Once on the plateau we can make the short detour to the highest point, the Windberg at 1903m, from where we have views over much of the Lower Austrian and Eastern Styrian alps. From there we will descend to Neuburg.

It is a relatively long hike about 17km and 1300m of elevation, which we will do at a reasonably brisk pace. The bus back to Mürzzuschlag leaves Neuberg at 17.51, so we have a hard deadline, and I will only take people who I know will be able to do the route at the necessary pace.

We will stop at one of the huts along the way for lunch/coffee (Lurgbauer and/or Michlbauer Hütte). There is also a café in Neuberg, if we need to kill time while waiting for the bus.

The trip will only take place if the weather forecast is good.
