Schneeberg the hard way on 07 July 2024

This route will take us to Klosterwappen, the summit of Schneeberg, by maximising the altitude difference - starting from Hollental at cca 540asl - combining an unmarked trail through Stadelwandgraben and descending through Weichtalklamm gorge (A/B via ferrata - schrambling through bolders, partly secured by steel cables). We will stop on the way down at Kienthallerhuette (optional very short C Klettersteig at the hut).

You should be rather fit for this hike - according to the GPS track the ascend is cca 1650m - have a good stamina and abilityto enjoy scrambling down through complex rocky terrain through a steep river bed in the gorge.

The hike can be adapated to shorter and less rockfall prone route in case of unfavourable weather (storms etc).

I prefer small groups size as the buses tend to be rather packed
