Weekend hike in Gesäuse national park, with an overnight stay at Hess hütte.
Gesäuse National Park is located in Styria and is third-largest of the six Austrian national parks, famous by the steep limestone peaks, green forests, mountain pastures, mountain huts with great views and the wild waters of Enns river.
The plan is to take the scenic route via Wasserfallweg (B-level ferrata) and Planspitze (2.117 m) to the hut, where we will take a dinner and stay overnight. On Sunday, after the breakfest we can climb Hochtor, the highest peak of the mountain, via Josefinensteig (B-level ferrata). Regarding the return back and the travel back to Vienna, there are few options, and they will be clarified further.
Ascent to Planspitze includes some insured sections, and also some easier uninsured climbing areas with difficulty level I (UIAA).
In overall, the event is demanding and you shoud be fit enough and already have similar experience. Surefootedness and head for hights are must.
The event will take place only in good weather conditions, otherwise it will be canceled or postponed.
A deposit may be requested from the participants in advance, in order to make the reservation at the hut.
