The Falkenstein Klettersteig is a via ferrata park in Mürztal with different variants from moderately difficult (B) to extremely difficult (D/E). All routes lead to the Falkensteinalm, where we can have a drink or a bite to eat after the ferrata.
Falkenstein Klettersteig (400m - C/D): Falkenstein (Route #1) is a 400 m long via ferrata, with a rope bridge and 2 C/D passages.
Helis-Pfeiler Einstieg (230m - D/E): Helis-Pfeiler (Route #2) is the most demanding variant, with a very difficult D/E section at the start. Please be aware that the topo states that this is not recommended as a first D/E attempt and that only climbers with previous experience on D/E via ferratas should attempt this route.
You can find the topo, detailed description (in German), and photos here: Falkenstein Klettersteig
Depending on the fitness level and skill set of the group, we can do either of the via ferratas (2h15m) or potentially both (4h30m). The final plan for the day will be determined based on the participants who sign up, as only a limited number of ACV members regularly take on D/E via ferratas.
In case of bad weather, the event may be shifted to another weekend or cancelled.
Pre-requisite: Highly experienced and confident on ferratas with a high level of difficulty – C/D ferratas should be a breeze for you! For this event, I will only be taking people I know, to be certain that everyone has the required technical skills. For those interested in trying out the Helis-Pfeiler Einstieg, I will ask for at least one example of a D/E ferrata you have done this year.
