Snowshoe and Sauna weekend - Gesäuse on 10 March 2017

A weekend of snowshoeing in the beautiful Gesäuse, based at the Kölblwirt hotel in Johnsbach. After the tour, there will be the possibility to use the hotel's sauna on Saturday evening for warming up again.

We will do two day tours of medium difficulty - a good level of fitness is required, but snowshoeing experience is not necessary for generally fit and experienced hikers. Alpenverein difficulty level: SSW2.

The weekend will take place regardless of the snow conditions, as there are tours suitable for all conditions. In the unlikely event that there is no snow, we will do some spring hiking there.

Cost of bed/breakfast will be somewhere round €40/night. Dinner and any other drinks/meals/snacks in huts etc are extra.

I have reserved 10 places at the hotel - they will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so please register soon. Please register by the deadline given below, as I have to inform the hotel of final numbers and arrival date.

(Update 21.1.2017: Now only 10 places available rather than 12, as I had to confirm early at the hotel, due to high demand for rooms. Travelling out Friday afternoon, returning Sunday)

For this tour, car transport is necessary. Please state in your registration if you need or can offer transport. If there are not enough cars available, it may be necessary for some participants to hire a car - the costs of this will then be shared by all non-drivers (not just those travelling in the rented car).

We will be travelling out on the Friday late afternoon  Details of meeting time and place will be communicated to registered participants. Returning Sunday evening.
