Ebenstein in Styria is the most prominent peak in the western part of the central Hochschwab plateau. On a clear day, the free-standing summit region of the Ebenstein offers great panorama of Voralpen, Ötscher , Gesäuse, Dachstein and Saualpe.
The hike is strenuous and there should be snow in the upper parts of the mountain.
Therefore, the participants must be fit enough and prepared/having experience hiking in winter conditions on the mountains using crampons and snowshoes.
Itinerary: Jassing car park (SH 884m) - Sonnschienalm - Sonnschienhütte - Kleiner Ebenstein (1,943m) - Ebenstein (2,123m) and back the same way.
The hike can be postponed or canceled in case of bad weather and snow conditions - it will take place only if there is no significant avalanche risk.
