Spring hike through a lovely karst area in Male Karpaty (Small Carpathians). I planned it spring 2020 but could not do it because of the pandemic so let's try now.
We go by car to Plavecky Mikulas in Slovakia, cca 1h 50min drive from Vienna. From there we will hike 16-17km on through three prominent hills in Male Karpaty - Cierna Skala, Klokoc and Vapenna - to another village Solosnica. The hike is min7hr walk up and down so get ready for a bit of a rollercoaster. The hike will take us through different ecosystems - forest, meadows, rocky outcrops so you'll be able to experience richness of Carpatians. This hiek is very pretty in spring and in autumn. We will walk through some nice view points like Cierna skala and some unusual landscapes on Klokoc, but mostly in forest. Male Karpaty have small in their name but this definitely does not apply to natural beauty of the area. We pass through 3 nature protected areas/ecosystems.

From Solosnica, where we can stop for some refreshments, we take a public bus (hourly) back to the cars.
All in all, the drive and the hike will make it a rather long day, so sign up only if you are fine with evening arrival to Vienna and if you have good stamina because this hike is several times up and down. We'll also need dedicated drivers.
The hike is limited to 2 cars because of very limited parking options.
In case of bad weather the hike will be cancelled.
