Gippel is one of the mountains of Mürzsteg Alps, and rises up to 1669 meters above the sea level. It is a mountain with "many faces" : observed from Kernhof the north face looks like a rugged three-thousander, while the south face is almost meadows. The summit offers impressive panoramas of large parts of the Styrian-Lower Austrian Limestone Alps.
The hike is not particularly difficult, but due to the significant altitude gain (1200 m), winter conditions (hopefully) and possibly some scrambling at few points, the participants should be fit and prepared for a longer hike at moderate pace. Also, we will need snowshoes and/or crampons for this hike. We will start the ascent from Zögernitz or Kernhof. Event will take place only if weather conditions are favourable.
