Speckbacherhütte - Falkensteinwand - Semmering (POSTPONED due to weather/ hut closed); alternative walk: from Sievering - Windischhütte- Hagenbachklamm on 21 January 2023

Potentially quite a long hike, if we include Pinkenkogel on Semmering (approx. 7/ 7 1/2 hours total walking time in this case);however, the peak is optional (about an hour's ascent from Semmering) and can be included or omitted depending on the  weather conditions on the day. The minimum walking time is around 5 1/2 - 6 hours.

The route is as follows: train station Payerbach, walk to Reichenau - Klatschkahöhe - Speckbacherhütte - Gaiskircherl - Semmering (along railway path or alternative path through the woods) - Semmering- Pinkenkogel - Semmering (return to Vienna by train from there).

Public transport walk (train to Payerbach, return from Semmering), but people can join by leaving their car at Payerbach railway station. They will need to return to there by train from Semmering (please check the trains, only the slow ones stop at Payerbach).
