Botanical hike around Hainburg on 01 April 2023

April fool's day hike! We'll explore the surroundings of the historical town of Hainburg an der Donau. We will hike through Hundsheimerberg and Hainburg castle ruin. We will hopefully see some typical panonian flora species such as adonis vernalis, iris pumila and various species of pulsatila which should grow on dry meadows of Hundsheimerberg (Natura 2000 protected area). We will continue to Hainburg castle ruin and if motivated we can do an additional short hike to a very interesting Danube forest in direction of Roethelstein ruin which will be full of other type of flowers at that time. What we see will depend on how warm/cold will March be but there will surely be some flowers blooming even if we won't find adonis.

The hike is not strenuous and suitable for beginners.
