Pre-Christmas Gluhwein hike from Prigglitz or Gloggnitz to Reichenau an der Rax where we end at a Christmas market at the castle and enjoy some punch and Christmas atmostphere. On the descend to Reichenau we will stop by Jubilaeums Aussicht.
The hike will be about 17km and 1000m up if we start from Gloggnitz, and about 12-13km with 700m up if we start from Prigglitz. The exact route will depend on the punctual arrival of the train to Gloggnitz to change to the bus.
My preference would be to start from Prigglitz but please only register if you can manage the longer route. The trains are not always on time and we may need to hike from Gloggnitz.

The days are short, so we need start at 7.30-8am by train from Vienna, arrival to Prigglitz 9.13 if me manage the connection. Return by train back to Vienna. I’ll send the transportation details to the registered participants before the hike.
The hike is not technically difficult, but you should be reasonably fit and enjoy hiking in cold weather.
Depending on the conditions you will need to take groedel (spikes for hiking boots), trekking poles, gaters and possibly snowshoes. Bring warm beverage and picnic lunch. Also please bring a headlamp or pocket torch, just in case ;)
It is possible I will be joining the hike from Hirschwang, in such case I will meet you at Gloggnitz train station.
In case of bad weather the hike can be shifted to Saturday or cancelled
