Ferratas on Hohe Wand on 22 October 2022

Two medium difficulty ferratas on Hohe Wand should make a proper day:

• Gebirgsvereins Steig - a nice route leading through varied rock formations (there is even a short hanging bridge and a hanging ladder). Difficulty up to proper D (especially it is a very popular route and holds on rock are pretty polished) so not suitable for beginners.
  30m approach, 1h30m-2h on the ferrata, 45m back down to the Wildenauersteig or 1h down to the parking lot
• Wildenauersteig - a very unique ferrata with a fully covered chimney. Unusual belaying directly on steel steps which are pretty far from each other in few places. This can cause some trouble if you are short and/or have a ferrata kit with short arms. According to all sources the difficulty is D but I would say it is assigned mainly to its unique character. The technical difficulty is not that big but still it is not a good pick for beginners.

The plan is to make the Gebirgsvereins first and then continue to the Wildenauersteig but if you feel tired after the first one, you can sit in a Hubertushaus and wait around 2h until we are done with the Wildenauersteig.

To attend this event you should have some prior ferrata experience and be sure you do not fear an exposure.

Of course everything depends on a good weather which can not be taken for granted at the end of October.
