A weekend hike in the Totes Gebirge area with ascent to the scenic summit of Warscheneck!
Saturday 18 June: Morning drive from Vienna to the Gleinkersee. From there, we will hike up to the Seespitz (1574 m) and further to Wurzeralm. Dinner and overnight stay at the Linzer Haus (1371 m).
Sunday 19 June: Hike to the Warscheneck via the Südost-Grat, a scenic rocky ridge with easy climbing passages up to level 1- and partly insured with a cable (Via ferrata - level B). After reaching the Warscheneck summit (2388 m), we will hike down via the Toter Mann, the Rote Wand, and back to the Gleinkersee.
In case of bad weather conditions the hike might postponed/canceled or the route changed!
This hike involves easy climbing and via ferrata, as well as long routes and significant altitude gains. Participants should be fit enough, have good experience on rocky terrain, and a head for heights.
The number of participants could be extended to 8 people in case of interest, subject to availability of an additional car and place in the hut.
