Description :

Two and a half day's hike with climb to Hochgolling (2863 m) and hikes of Klefferkesses lake area.

Friday afternoon: departure from Vienna and travel to Riesach falls, hike to the hut, overnight stay.

Saturday: Hochgolling, 2863 m is the highest summit of the Niedere Tauern range (the Schladminger Tauern group). It makes mighty impression with its compact, 1200 m high wall and sharp ridges, streching towards northeast and northwest.

Sunday: Klafferkessel - a relic from the Ice Age is high alpine landscape and is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Schladminger Tauern -  about 30 lakes of different sizes are are laying around 2,300 meters above sea level.

The start of the hike is at Riesach Falls at 1.079m, and the hike continues to Gollinghütte situated at 1.641m. On Saturday, after the breakfast we take over the Gollingwinkel and the Gollingscharte 2,326m in the direction of Hochgolling 2,863m.
To reach the top, the plan is to climb over the exposed Nordwestgrat and return back to the hut via the normal path and stay overnight at the hut.
The next day, after the breakfast, we hike up to Greifenberg 2,618m, then we visit Klafferkessel, over the Breite Scharte to the Waldhorntörl and return back to the starting point.

Important: the Nortwest ridge is exposed ,with climbing spots of climbing difficulty up to the level of UIAA II, therefore on this tour only experienced and people that I know can join. Surefootedness and head for hights is a must. The summit ascent will be done only in good weather conditions.
