The idea is to travel out Saturday morning by train to Gmunden, take the shuttle along the short of the Traunsee to the start of the hike, climb the Traunstein, stay overnight at the Traunsteinhaus, close to the summit. On the Sunday, hike to Grünau im Almtal, via the Zwillingskogel from where we will return to Vienna by train.
The Naturfreundensteig is a category B Klettersteig. It can be done with or without Klettersteig set, depending on experience and confidence levels. A helmet is mandatory. I will only take people I know on this trip, and who I know can do this.
An optional extra is a short D-Klettersteig towards the top of the mountain for those who would like to challenge themselves to a little extra (for this a Klettersteigset is mandatory too!). I will probably NOT be doing this, but those who want to and have the experience and equipment are welcome to try it!
By train, details will be given to registered participants. Vorteilscard is recommended.
