Description :

Let's celebrate the arrival of spring by a hike in a lovely karst area of Male Karpaty. And let's do it before the change to summer time ;-)

We will meet at Spittelau at 8am and go by car to Plavecky Mikulas in Slovakia, cca 1h 45min drive. From there we will hike 16km on the crest of Male Karpaty to another village Solosnica. The hike is cca 6hr walk up and down so get ready for a bit of a rollercoaster. From Solosnica, where we can stop for some refreshments, we take a public bus back to the cars.

We will walk through some nice view points like Cierna skala and Vapenna and some unusual landscapes on Klokoc, mostly in forest. There may be some baerlauch on the way too. And let's see about spring flowers!

T1, I can move myself surefootedly on trails and narrow foot-paths

Physical requirements :

K2, 4-7 hours / day; up and down

Equipment :

picknic lunch & enough fluids, rain jacket, hiking shoes, sun screen, small change for the bus, optional hiking poles

Transport Details :

Meeting at Spittelau 8am,

by car to Plavecky Mikulas (no toll roads in SK)

bus from Solosnica 17.13 or 17.40

return to Vienna at cca 7.30pm

We can take 2 people in our car and would need one more driver to join and offer transport.
