Description :

Most of us never used in practice snow-related skills we had learned on courses (e.g. arresting in snow, avalanche search, building snow anchors or pulley systems). On one hand it's good - it means we hike safely. On the other hand it creates a risk of forgetting what we learned. This event is to assure we don't forget.

Remarks

  • This event is not a course. If you need one, AV organizes two winter courses in English:
  • Snow-related skills are important not only for hardcore mountainers. Think about your activities in 2019. If you crossed a glacier or larger snowfield at least once, it means it would be good to practice arresting in snow.

As every year we will go next to the Otto Haus and spend a whole day playing in snow.

What we will exactly practice will depend on the group. Arresting in snow and avalanche search are a must, everything else is flexible.
