This year our summer hike will be in the Ötztal, starting in Obergurgl and finishing in Vent. The planned route will take us up to 3341m of elevation, and it will possibly be technically more difficult and/or exposed than previous years. It is however still hiking without technical climbing, and no glacier crossings. With one exception, the individual stages are rather short, leaving ample opportunity for optional peaks, before, during or after the stages (and the one exception, can also be changed to a short day, if necessary)
Due to planning problems with accommodation, the trip is from Sunday through to Saturday this year.
It is necessary to have good fitness, experience of and correct equipment for alpine hiking and a good head for heights. We will ask participants who we do not know yet, to join other hikes before the week long hike, to check suitability for this hike.
Note that in some huts we are staying in rooms, and in some huts the dormitories. Some huts require that we take half pension. In general, there is no possibility of special requests, regarding the type of accommodation. Participants must generally also join for the whole week.
Here is a link to a summary of the route, including distances, ascent, descent etc, and hut details including prices.
A non-returnable deposit of € 70 will be charged to all participants - the registration is only confirmed upon receipt of this payment.
Registration is now open until end of May.
