A full day hike: Johannesbach Klamm, Greith, Schrattenstein, Neunkirchner Haus, Flatzer Wand, Ternitz. Open to non-members.
Terrain consists of trails and forest roads over rolling hills.
A to B hike, approx 20k, short cuts not possible.
Bring a packed lunch since we would reach the hut in the afternoon.
Route:
Train from Vienna to Willendorf. Short walk to Würflach (base of Klamm).
Up the Johannesbach Klamm as far as Greith. (We descended it on the Glühwein Hike last November).
At Greith take the trail up the hill to the left.
Snack/lunch at a suitable location in the Schrattenstein/Larchbaumkreuz area.
(Unfortunately, the Schrattenstein Ruine is now a complete ruin and public access is
not possible.)
Thereafter, a series of forest trails to the Neunkirchner Haus, where afternoon refreshments would be possible (depending on our arrival time), and then an easy 2 hour descent to Ternitz.
If weather is favorable and time allows, perhaps a quick ice cream in Ternitz prior to departure on the train.
