I would like to do this walk - but I only know the first bit of it - so: I hope you all come along but I will need some help finding the route!
https://www.bergfex.at/sommer/burgenland/touren/wanderung/41465,ueber-das-leithagebirge-von-purbach-nach-eisenstadt/
It is an easy but very LONG walk (8 to 9 hours walking time) - lots of drink & food supplies needed as there seem to be NO HUTS en route ..of course, the Leithagebirge is only a modest hill range, so in case of an emergency, the next little village is about an hour away from almost any point of the hike..also, I am not sure how interesting the walk really is as I rarely go to the Neusiedler See area.. but i feel this time of the year is probably a good opportunity to find out (before the higher peaks beckon again...);)
The idea is to take the train to Purbach, hike from there across the hills to Eisenstadt & take the train back from there..only in good weather, I have decided (otherwise I feel that this area can feel quite gloomy). Early start required, details will be confirmed closer to the date..
S-Bahn to Purbach (about 7 Euros for a single ticket WITH Oebb card), return from Eisenstadt to Vienna (about the same )...
Car drivers obviously welcome - in this case, I guess you could leave your car at Purbach..please organise this by yourselves.
