This year's snowshoe and sauna weekend will take us to the Wurzeralm with an overnight stay in the lovely Linzerhaus (hut with sauna!).

We will do two one day hikes around the Wurzeralm which are not too difficult, but may be quite long. Suitable for reasonably fit snowshoe beginners. The exact routes will be decided there.

Maximum no. of participants: 10 - first come, first served! Please register by 15th Feb, as I need to inform the hut of our exact number.

Technical requirements :

T2, Rough areas, broken rocks and boulder fields are not a problem for me. I am sure-footed and free of dizziness

Physical requirements :

K2, 4-7 hours / day; up and down

Duration in hours and
elevation gain :

Up to about 6hrs per day, probably not more than 800m of altitude difference per day

1800

Equipment :

Snowshoes and poles, avalanche beacon,shovel and probe (depending on snow conditions). Warm and waterproof clothing, sunglasses and hat, hot and cold drinks, snacks for along the way.

Transport Details :

Travel to Spital am Phyrn early Saturday morning. It's to travel by car if possible, although train travel is also possible if necessary. Please state during registration if you can drive your own or a rental car.

Ascent to and return from the hut via the funicular railway.
