Description :

Königschusswand Steig is the most difficult ferrata in Rax. Located on the Preiner Wand next to the Haidsteig offers no crowds (all people go on Haidsteig) and nice diversity of rock formations.

  • Starting from the Greisleiten we will follow marked trails leading to the bottom of the Preiner Wand (~1h15m).
  • Then tiring part comes ~45 minutes of going up on a loosly rocks to reach the beginning of the ferrata.
  • Finally  ferrata comes (~1h30m). It is rated E but the difficulty varies a lot - there is only one E move, some D and many B to C parts (see the topo for details).
  • We will take the yellow trail trough the Neue Seehutte to go down (~2h). There is a shorter option but it is unpleasant - full of loosly rock - so I prefer to avoid it.

As it's a difficult hike there are some requirements:

  • you are able to climb a D ferrata on your own
  • I know you

Base participants limit is 2 (including me). Can be adjusted a little depending on who signs up.
