Description:
Starting from Payerbach-Reichenau, we will hike via the Stojerhöhe up to the Speckbacherhütte on top of the Kreuzberg. After enjoying the great view and good meal we will descend via a different path to Payerbach.
Length of activity, difficulty:
This is a technically easy 5 hour trip (not including the rest stops) with about 600m of ascent and descent.
Meeting point and ending point:
at the train station Payerbach-Reichenau.
Meeting time: 9.35am
Ending time: 5pm??
Public Transportation:
Trains are available. Leaving Wien-Meidling at 8.28, changing in Wiener Neustadt, arriving Payerbach-Reichenau at 9.35.
Driving Instructions:
From Vienna, A2 Südautobahn, S6->Gloggnitz then follow the signs to Reichenau an der Rax. Continue through Payerbach, turn right following the sign to Bahnhof.
Reckon on about 1.1/4hrs from Vienna.
Car sharing:
Please contact trip leader to indicate if you can offer or would need a lift by Wednesday evening 13th May.
If nobody comes by train we will meet at the church in Payerbach.
Instead of turning right to the Bahnhof, turn left and cross the bridge over the Schwarza and find a parking space there.
Recommended Equipment:
Usual equipment for alpine hikes including sunglasses, suncream, waterproofs, drinking water and snacks. Good footware.
Comments:
Registration required under the included phone number, or by signing up at the meeting on the 4th May. The trip will not take place if the weather forecast is bad. A decision will be made on Friday evening, and communicated by e-mail to the participants. Those who have not given me their email addresses, must call me on Friday evening.
