Description:
Starting from the Train station Mödling, we will take a small walk through Mödling to the Goldene Steige. From there, we will find Anninger and possibly a drink at the Anninger Shutzhaus. Then we find our way back.
Length of activity, difficulty:
This is a long day with about 500m of ascent and descent. It is only suitable for experienced hikers, in good physical shape who are also able to tackle simple tasks such as drinking and eating. The way up toward Anninger is full of dangerous wildlife like bears, moose and off-road bikers. Since none of the trails are secured with wires and ladders, please go at your own risk. A head for heights is a must; please stay vertical while on the trail. Hiking time will be at least as much as the rest stops.
Meeting point and ending point: Mödling Bahnhoff.
Meeting time: 8.45am (for a start at 9.00am from the train station)
Ending time: Who knows.
Public Transportation:
Trains and busses are available. Please check under fahrplan.oebb.at, using "Mödling" as the destination.
Driving Instructions:
From Vienna, A2 Südautobahn, SCS exit and go left at the light. Do not head toward SCS. The next two turns right (if you miss the first one) will lead to Mödling. The Banhof is well signed.
Car sharing:
Please contact trip leader to indicate if you can offer or would need a lift
Recommended Equipment:
Usual equipment for high alpine hikes including warm clothes, sunglasses, sun cream, waterproofs, plenty of drinking water and snacks. Good sturdy footwear.. Drinking glasses are usually provided by the gasthouse, but you never know.
Comments:
This is supposed to be a fun trip and nothing else. This is to celebrate the 9th year of a group that has done some miraculous things. Relax for a change, will you!
Due to the nature of the trip, no alpine club membership (or membership of equivalent organizations) is required, and participation in the trip will be at the trip leader's discretion. But, most of you will know him.
