Description: This will be mostly a cultural tour with some short hikes up the hills to various points of interest and especially the Spillberk Castle. This castle is home of the Brno City Museum and houses several permanent exhibits. Attractions include the International Exhibit of the History and Art of Fireworks Displays, baroque fortress architecture, and the beautiful cathedral located in the city center.

Length of activity, difficulty: -- One day – Easy.

Meeting point and ending point:  07:15 Südbahnhof near ticket dispensing machines in the main hall. We will return by train to the Südbahnhof.

Meeting time:  07:15
Ending time:  about 21:30 or 22:03 if we take a later train back.

Public Transportation: To Brno on train D270 departing Südbahnhof at 7:32 and arriving Brno at 9:17. Return on train R275 at 19:38 arriving Vienna at 21:30 or train EC177 at 20:17 and arriving Vienna at 22:03.
It is recommended that you buy ahead of time Sparschiene-tickets including seat reservation at Westbahnhof as it is written on the homepage of ÖBB. Normal Price: 29 Euro, Vorteilscard Price: 19 Euro. Tickets include tram & bus transportation in Brno.

Driving Instructions:  Save the planet and take the train!

Recommended Equipment: Comfortable lugged-sole walking shoes, rain gear, and warm clothing. A small amount of Czech money for any entrance fees. Exchange rate about 1 Euro=25 CZK.  Many restaurants but not government facilities are now accepting Euros. Don’t forget your PASSPORT if you are required to have one for the Czech Republic.

Comments: Some of this trip is inside buildings, but for those who might have other interests the shops are open on Saturdays.
