Schneeberg > Herminensteig - Dammböckhaus

Description:
Difficult hike + easy climbing. Sure-footedness and being absolutely free of dizziness necessary.
First part: Unterer Herminensteig, easy hike through the woods with one rocky part (1+) approx. 20 m high. There is a possibilty to avoid this part.
Then we use the path “Nördlicher Grafensteig” (1300 m) to the entry of the
Second part: Oberer Herminensteig, continuously easy climbing (1). End of path near to “Hotel Hochschneeberg” – our break will be in Dammböckhaus (1810 m).
For the way down we walk from Dammböckhaus to top station Schneebergbahn and ride down with the Salamander train (Euro 20,--).

1-day hike
Total walking time abt. 6 hours.
Difference in elevation 1100 m up and 100 m down.

Puchberg
Public Transportation:
6.19 or 6.35 from Wien Südbahnhof, both with change to train leaving in Wr. Neustadt 7.33, arrival in Puchberg 8.19.
Driving Insructions:
A2 Südautobahn, exit Wiener Neustadt West to B26 to Puchberg am Schneeberg, abt. two hours drive from Vienna.

Recommended Equipment:
Usual hiking equipment e.g. hiking boots, raincoat, pullover, please bring snacks and drinks as we reach Damböckhaus only at about 3 pm, sun cream, sun glasses, cap or hat and gloves!
Please consider that we will go into high alpine areas where changes of wheather and fall of temperature might occur very suddenly.
Comments:
In case of doubtful weather please phone if the tour takes place. If the weather is very bad we postpone the trip to September 4th.
