Description:
We walk along Engleitengraben to Engleitensattel and continue to the summit of Hohenstein with Otto-Kandler-Haus. We will have a rest there. They do not offer a big selection but it is possible to get something to eat and drink – and we will enjoy a very nice panoramic view if the weather permits. Then we return to Engleitensattel and in continuation along a very nice path to hut “Am Himmel” and have a second rest there. From there we will go down quite a steep path to where we left the cars.
Length of activity, difficulty:
1.195 m – easy hike, some steep parts, total walking time abt. 5 to 6 hours.
Meeting point and ending point:
We meet at the restaurant “Hof am Steg” in Schrambach – there are signs indicating the restaurant and Schrambach on the right side of the road a few hundred meters after Lilienfeld, and then we continue together by car to our starting point.
Meeting time: 9 a.m.
Ending time: abt. 4.30 p.m.
Driving Insructions:
Either A1 to St. Pölten, exit St. Pölten Süd and then B 20 to Lilienfeld
or
A2 exit Brunn to A21, continue A21 until exit Alland, across Hafnerberg and Gerichtsberg, passing Hainfeld and Traisen to Lilienfeld.
Driving time abt. 1,5 hours
Recommended Equipment:
Usual hiking equipment, good shoes, rain jacket, drink and snacks if you like
