Description:
PART 1 - Winter walk on Laaerberg in the 10th district of Vienna. Then to the “Böhmische Prater” for the first sampling of Glühwein. A short tram ride from Absberggasse to Zentralfriedhof Door 2 where we will meet those who want only to participate in part 2.

PART 2 - Then on to perhaps the best Advent display in all of Vienna at the Schloss Neugebäude in Simmering. A few more Glühweins and we will meander thru a wooded area toward the tram 6/71 for a short ride to the U3 and then a few stops to the Gasometer.

PART 3 - Socializing with drinks and eats at the Pub Bierometer. www.bierometer.at
Length of activity, difficulty:
easy until the Glühwein becomes effective
Meeting point and ending point:
Grillgasse on the 15A (1 pm.)or Zentralfriedhof Door 2 ( 5 pm.); Ending point - Gasometer
Meeting time: 1 pm. for the hike and part 1 of the “Glühwein Marathon”
5 pm. at Door 2 Wiener Zentralfriedhof on the No. 6 or 71 tramline for part 2
Ending time: For as long as you like or until the pub closes
Public Transportation:
U3 to Simmering bus 15A to Grillgasse OR (for part 2)Tram 6/71 to Friedhof Door 2
Driving Instructions:
Public transport recommended; ending place different from the starting place.
Car sharing:
This is the Glühwein Marathon !! Better leave the car at home and take public transport.
Recommended Equipment:
WARM FOOTWEAR it might be cold and/or wet. Rain-jacket or umbrella. FLASHLIGHT (to see if the Glühwein glass is really empty or to find your way thru the woods on the way back to the 6/71 tram.
Comments:
Bring an extra warm layer for after dark when the temperature will surely drop.
