Ski Equipment: It is recommended that you bring your own or rent equipment in Vienna. I was unable to determine the quality or availability of rental equipment while I was there in October. I do have a listing of 4 Rental services… see www.tanap.sk/rental.html
Insurance: Accident insurance is provided through your membership in the Alpin Verein. However, it has not yet been determined whether general medical problems would be covered because the ski area is outside of the EU. We will look into this and inform you of the possibilities via email.
Area maps: A map of the area is available from Freytag & Berndt WKSK1. A German language guide is included.
Lessons: are available. If interested ask me for further information.

Bank-o-mat machines are located in the train station in Bratislava and also in the village of Tatranska Lomnica.
This ski area is located in the Tatras National Park which covers part of Poland. It was founded in 1949 and covers 741 sq. km in Slovakia alone. The western part of the High Tatras includes the tallest peaks Gerlach 2655 m and Lomnicky at 2632 m, which is just above the ski area. The lifts begin at 850 meters and the top is at 2190.
The area has other possibilities of interest including small museums, wooden churches, and art galleries. I have information about available excursions for those who might be interested. The town of Poprad also has a unique old section.
I am investigating the possibility of a tour bus to meet us at the train station in Poprad. The continuing train connections are close together and the last trains of the day. I would hate to be stranded overnight on a train platform in the middle of Slovakia, in the middle of the night, and in the middle of winter. A warm, waiting bus seems very inviting.
I will send further information to those who sign up for the trip.
