Description: This is a general outing for skiers of all levels. We will
go by bus to Hochkar, where we can all pursue our skiing goals. The point is
to have fun, so be prepared to take the whole day in a casual manner. For those
who need ski instruction, a link to their homepage (English) is below. For those
who dream of black and off-piste adventures, we will have a link to the map
as well.
Göstling-Hochkar is one of the largest skiing areas in Lower Austria. Since the skiing area is about 1,440 m above sea level, snow should be no problem.
Note!!! We need 20 people to sign up, and no one is signed up unless they pay me by the time I make the reservation (1 week in advance). No cancellations will be accepted, so once you give me the money... it is spent.

Starting Point: The bus leaves at 7:00, Vienna 15th district, Schönbrunn Schlossbruke. It arrives at Hochkar in about 1.5 to 2.5 hours(150 km from Vienna). This depends on the traffic, so be patient.
Ending Point: The bus leaves at about 4 to 4:30 and arrives in Vienna 1.5 to 2.5 hours later.

Set your goals.
Cross Country Skiing 15-20 km "panorama loipe" at 800-900 km above
sea level. It runs between Hochkar and Dürrenstein and ranges from light
to middle to difficult. But hey, you can always walk the difficult parts. Lassing
is 5 km and middle difficulty. Strohmarkt is 4 km light difficulty.
Alpine Skiing The 5 ski lifts provide a capacity of about 14,000 persons
per hour, and visit the above link for a description of the slopes and the ski
schools. There are 3.6 km blue (light), 11 km red (medium), and 4.1 km black
(difficult) piste in all.

Car Connections: None offered, unless you want to drive and meet
us there.
Train Connections: None offered, unless you want to ride and meet us there.
Equipment Needed: Appropriate gear but rental shops can be found at Hochkar.
