Registration until :
2017-10-03
Type of event :
Hike (Hut Trek), 3+ days
Organized by :

Description :

This year, the two national holidays in the Autumn fall in such a way that by taking 3 "window" days of holiday it is possible to get almost a whole week off work!  An ideal opportunity for a longer trip to the Paklenica National Park in Croatia. The trip will be similar to this trip from 2012 (Here are the photos!)

The idea is to start with a challenging two (or possibly three) day hike in the national park, and possibly a further day hiking later in the week, but there will also be free days for relaxing/culture or whatever people want to do - there are currently no fixed plans for the free days, and participants are free to make their own plans.

The hike is only suitable for strong hikers - long and challenging terrain!

We will have accommodation in a simple but friendly B&B in Starigrad for most of the time.  For the night (or two nights) in the 2 or 3 day hike, we will stay in the wonderful Ivancev Dom Mountain Hut.

For the registration, a non-returnable deposit of around €50 will be charged.

Maximum no of participants: 10

Note: if anyone travelling independently wants to shorten the trip, it could be possible to travel back to Vienna earlier, but it may leave a little less flexibility in case of bad weather. Please contact the hike organiser if you are interested in joining for a shorter time, or mention in the notes during registration.

Transport Details :

Normally I travel to Starigrad by car, about 7-8 hours drive from Vienna, and I will almost certainly drive this time, and can take 2 extra people.  It is also convenient to have a car in Starigrad.

If there are not enough cars/drivers, there is also the possibility of flying to Zadar  (via Zagreb). As of 30th August, there are very cheap flights available from Vienna (about €100 return per person!). Flixbus also has connection to Zadar via Zagreb.  You would then need a taxi or possibly a bus from the airport to and from Starigrad-Paklenica and possibly also for getting around during the week, so it is slightly less convenient, but if 4 people share taxis, it will not be very expensive.  Of course these prices are liable to change. If you are interested in flying there, please write this in the notes on the registration page. You will need to book your own flight or bus, but I will of course help with the details if necessary.

Max participants :
10
