(Edit 25.4. Date changed from 26.4 -> 27.4 due to the weather)
One of my favourite spring hikes, which I have offered a few times over the last few years, and would like to offer again this spring. Although technically easy, it is significant ascent and descent and a relatively long hike, which we will hike at a moderately brisk pace, so please only register if you are comfortable with this.
A traverse of the Hohenstein, south of St. Pölten. A reasonably long, but technically easy hike with a total of approx 1000m of elevation and some steep sections. With views of the Ötscher to the south and if the weather is good, as far as the Tote Gebirge towards the west. The hut along the way (Otto Kandler Haus) is supposed to open on this day, but I still recommend bringing snacks and drinks for along the way, but if the hut is really open, we can have a lunch stop there.
There is a nice ice cream shop in Kirchberg if we have some waiting time for the train back in the afternoon.
The hike may be cancelled or rescheduled if the weather is bad.
