By the 18th December you'll have explored all Vienese Christmas markets so it's time to move beyond and venture into the nearest capital across the border. We will hike from Devinska Nova Ves over Sandberg and Devinska Kobyla to Devin. Both places are protected natural sanctuaries and offer wonderful views towards River Morava (March), hills around Hainburg, Danube, and if we're lucky we may even see Schneeberg from the summit. We will descend to Devin village, where Morava flows into Danube, and we can take a short break there (perhaps get the first gluhwein) and walk around a bit before taking a bus to Bratislava city centre and go explore the Christmas markets and their wine, punch ad local specialties offer.
To get ready and get an introduction to the local specialties watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lnckCxm5yg
Alpenverein membership is not required for this hike. So feel free to bring friends and dear ones along! It's also a good opportunity for those who are not members but are thinking of joining ACV to meet us and get to know one another. However, this is not a call to bring as many people as possible :) To keep a track of the size of the group, everyone should register - those without Alpenverein membership please indicate "non-member" in the dedicated field. This will help me with planning and some organisational issues.
Bring packed lunch and some drinks with you. Also, bring warm clothes as it gets dark early and can get really cold when standing around at gluehwein stands.
