Description :

A traverse of the Hohenstein, south of St. Pölten. A reasonably long, but technically easy hike with a total of approx 1000m of elevation and some steep sections. With views of the Ötscher to the south and if the weather is good, as far as the Tote Gebirge towards the west. Lunch hut (Otto Kandler Haus) at the top (if there is room for us!)

Route:
Schrambach – Hohenstein – Kirchberg an der Pielach

Note: In the case of bad weather on Sat 9th, the event may be moved to Sun 10th.

Technical requirements :

T1, I can move myself surefootedly on trails and narrow foot-paths

Physical requirements :

K2, 4-7 hours / day; up and down

Equipment :

Normal equipment for hiking in the spring. Good boots, snacks and drinks, warm waterproof clothing.

Transport Details :

Travel by train. Car transport not possible, as it is not a round trip. Transport details and meeting point will be communicated to registered participants a day or two before the trip.
