People walk and hike
for a lot of reasons. For some, it is a healthy
recreational activity. For others it is a chance be socially active and to
meet people with similar interests, and some enjoy hikes which are more of a
challenge. We try to cover a wide range of
interests, with events ranging from LIGHT
to SERIOUS (GO
HERE to find out more.)
Any person who enjoys bird watching, looking at the sky at night or even
strapping on a pair of snowshoes, knows the simple pleasure of walking.
But walking is more than an enjoyable way to get from "point A" on the map
to "point B"! It can also improve your fitness, health and mental
well-being.
What we do as a group can range from a brisk walk in Wienerwald or a week
long trip from hut-to-hut. Regardless of the event, there is more to
walking and hiking than just exercising or looking at a view. We can learn
to appreciate what we have, while doing something for ourselves too.
The Hiking subgroup is a source to find people to go hiking with. You will
find most of the events our club does are aimed at hiking and walking, but
"one size does not fit everyone". If you have a walk, hike or trek you
wish to do and are looking for support and people to enjoy it with, please
contact us.
To find out what we are doing and what we have scheduled, come back to the Home Page frequently and check out the latest news about Hiking events under "Group News".
You can also check under the Events link for all the Club events. For questions
or comments you can contact this Group leader HERE.
Members can email the entire Hiking Group with relevant information. Just go HERE to access the email form. You will need to get the login information from the Group Leader (see email link above).
