Snowshoeing Niederwechsel /
Randgebirge östlich der Mur / Wechsel / Niederösterreich

Snowshoeing from Panoramabahn (chair lift, upper station) 1432m to Niederwechsel 1669m.
Optionally longer, direction to Hochwechsel (1743m) / Wetterkoglerhaus (hut closed).
Longer hike without much additional height possible according to weather, snow condition and physical shape of participants.

Technical requirements :

T1, I can move myself surefootedly on trails and narrow foot-paths

Physical requirements :

K2, 4-7 hours / day; up and down

Appr. 240m up and down, appr. 2,5km, appr. 2hrs up, 1,5 hrs down. Optionally more, see above.

Equipment :

Usual winter gear including gaiters. Snow shoes can be rented by Oesterreichischer Alpenverein or Gebirgsverein. Sitting pad for the chair lift (might be wet from rain). No hut on the way open, so bring hot drinks and lunch or snacks.

Ending time and place:
17:00 Panorama-Sesselbahn / ground station. Social drink before or afterwards ? (Chair lift downhill until 16:30)

Driving Instructions:
Wien - Südautobahn A2 - Exit Aspang-Markt - Bundesstraße 54 to Aspang-Markt, shortly before Mariensee junction to Panorama-Sesselbahn.
