Event Planning: Who's involved and Helpful Hints

Group Activities

The event planning committee is just what it sounds like. We plan events.

Although you might be surprised to learn what we have done in the past, often far away from the mountains! Irish night at the Metropol, Sledding, Christmas Markets, hikes through Wienerwald and so on.

Therefore, if you have an idea for an event that might not be alpine enough - please let us know about it. We want to know what you want to do. Use the e-mail link at the bottom of the page.

If you would be willing to organize a little event yourself and invite some friends along, let us know and we will broadcast it.

All the activities and events are arranged by 100% volunteers. Exceptions to this are the OEAV hikes that our members are involved in. These might have a fee, so please check before your enthusiasm is set back by an outstretched hand. Our main focus is to keep an atmosphere of "friends inviting friends". We recognize our responsibility to make our outing safe and enjoyable but assume no professional liability. Frankly, this group is voluntary and we are not paid for this.

For professionally guided tours, we would be happy to help anyone (member or nonmember, group or individual) arrange something with the OEAV or Section Austria. We also have connections and members that are professional guides, so please feel free to contact us. -

This year (2003) we have been able to form two subgroups to our main group, again through the effort of volunteers. We have Jack's climbing group and Roger's biking group. If you have a moment to thank them at a meeting, you should.
